Do you often return from a vacation feeling more stressed than before? Sociology experts have found that many people fall prey to the preconceived notion of expecting to feel relaxed by visiting a popular tourist destination whereas, in most cases, the reality is completely different. Since you are already considering using your two-wheeler instead of a car to go on a trip, you definitely are not conventional! Congratulations on your choice, and to help you relax even better during your vacation, here are a few important things that you need to keep in mind.

Have a realistic budget

Money is your best friend when you are at a foreign destination with strangers around you.  Without proper financial planning, your entire experience is bound to be limited by the money you have in your pocket. To ensure that you never have to cut corners on your vacation and have a realistic budget by talking to other people and finding out how much money they usually have to spend at the destination you are planning to go to. This will give you a fair idea and help you plan better. Never think that you will be able to manage with half the amount of money other people have to spend because that is not going to happen, and it will create unnecessary stress for you on the vacation, or worse, you might be forced to return home! Be frugal with your expenses but always have the money with you in case you need to spend it.

Keep annoying gadgets at home/hotel room

Do you really need to carry the laptop with you? It is better to plan your vacations in advance and get the urgent tasks closed beforehand (or delegate it to someone else) so that you don't have to be tied down to your office work while on vacation. Whenever possible ditch the computer and laptop back home, or even if you have to carry them with you, keep them in the hotel room while you are out exploring the destination. The only two gadgets we recommend you carry are the mobile phone and a power bank for the day.

Don’t keep anything for the last minute

A major reason why people feel stressed when they are on vacation is because they leave many important decisions till the last minute. If you are uncertain about things then instead of leaving decisions for the last moment make a stop-gap plan so that you can fall back to using it instead of not having any plan at all.

Lose the crowd

Find a location that does not have a huge crowd. To achieve this, you have to have a strong research about the destination you are about to visit. Some places draw humongous footfalls during certain seasons and festivals. So, unless you are willing to sacrifice a little bit of the ‘freedom of movement’ to see the festival or the seasonal attraction, it is always a good idea to plan your vacations away from the crowd.

Hire a nanny for the kids

Since you are planning to travel by a motorcycle, carrying kids with you might not be an option at all. At most, you probably will be accompanied by your spouse or friend so you need somebody to take care of the kids while you're away. Having a reliable person to look over your kids and meet their demands in your absence will give you a lot of peace of mind and allow you to enjoy your vacation without any stress.

Don’t play chicken with safety gear

Safety should always be your first priority! While you can always wear a half-face helmet or an open-face helmet while on a long tour, it is advisable to invest in a good quality full-face motorcycle helmet with good weather protection especially if you are planning to ride during the winter season. Not having safety gear can put you into a lot of trouble (or even legal hassle) and give you unnecessary stress which can be easily avoided by having the proper motorcycle riding accessories with you at all times.
